Private & International Adoption Training - Beyond PRIDE
Preparing your hearts and your lives for your new child

For those who have already completed, or will be completing, the on-line PRIDE training, this session will be Invaluable. The supplementary training expands your knowledge in the areas of private and international adoption (as well as further considerations when pursuing an adoption through the Children’s Aid Society). Topics include:

  • Positive adoption language
  • Adjustments of children: food, language, sleeping, other children, extended family, pets, etc.
  • Understanding open adoption relationships (or impacts if no contact)
  • Preparing for being 'different' - issues related to mixed racial adoptions
  • How to talk to your child about adoption
  • How to answer questions from friends and family - privacy vs secrecy
  • Presentations by adult adoptees, parents, and birth parents

The training will include guest speakers in all different types of adoptions. Your knowledge in adoption will be greatly enhanced through this highly informative and enjoyable workshop.

Due to the current COVID restrictions, this session will be offered live stream online - it will be a virtual classroom, with the instructor teaching live. Participants will be able to ask questions on the spot, and have interactions with other participants.

Date - Saturday, April 22, 2023

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Registration Fee: $125 per person
